Credit Card Interest

Hi everybody,

I'm in a bit of a catch 22 with my credit card, i messed up on my 0% balance barclaycard and i'm now paying interest at around £60 per month, therefore of the £110 i pay, only £50 is reducing the debt.

I moved house in November and when i realised about the interest error i applied for a 0% card with Tesco but was declined. I'm assuming its because i only recently went on the electoral roll and hadn't been in my address long.

I am otherwise fairly financially stable and earn a decent wage. Can anybody suggest anything i can do for the next couple of months to make me more appealing for applying again, i did the soft search check today and came up with 30-40% acceptance rates!

I noticed my phone contract was still at my old address and have corrected that, i will get my credit file tomorrow and see if there is anything else still at the wrong address etc.

In the mean time, any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

As it is more a mess up with the 0% rather than significant arrears on the account and you are looking at 0% BT's I presume, I was just wondering if you would get more response posting in the credit card section for some advice instead.

Sorry I can't answer your questions, it has been a long time since I had any credit I could use on a card!

After moving, it can take 3-6 months to update the electoral role entries and another month to make to the CRAs.

Have you checked your credit file to see if you are registered?

Hi, thank you both for your replies.

I will get my credit file over the holidays and check that everything is in order, after many years of struggling with debt, i thought i was doing things right, but its just one thing after another with financial institutions and me.

Fingers crossed i will get it sorted without wasting too much money.

I think you'll have to wait a good 4-6 months before applying again i'm afraid.
Just bite the bullet for now and re-apply again in 4-6 months,
