    hello everyone

Congrats zepsgal on the new role and how fantastic that you can move to it so very quickly! Exciting news!!

    For me today:

    - a NSD (have quite a few of those as work in business park where there is nothing tempting at all!)
    - breakfast and lunch from home
    - dinner is from meal plan (using salmon fillets which were on offer at morrisons). Have cut out meat and poultry from diet and trying "pescatarian" for health and animal cruelty reasons... Loving it so far.
    - drinking hot chocolate, water, tea and cofffee at work
    - charging phones at work
    - have genned up for first telephone screening for new job later today (they approached me, so guess this means they are fairly interested to start with!). Must think about what ballpark when they say "what package are you looking for?"... Always hate that conversation...
    - used shower timey thing this morning so saved elec/hot water
    - another alcohol free day for me today - yay!
    - have checked banking and spreadsheets and all on track/no surprises
    - looking at budget for April which will need to be tweaked around a bit due to being away (with family) for first week... So will probably add grocery money destined for that week to entertainment/petrol fund and see how we get on with that...!!

have a good day everyone... stay positive! and stay warm and safe, those of you who have snow!
Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...
Debt-free, now focussing on being mortgage-free
    MORTGAGE : [STRIKE]Dec 2012 £133,602[/STRIKE]. Dec 2013 £114,092.47 July 2015 £85654

Not sure I agree about the animal cruelty point but doing this for health reasons is a great idea since red meat is hard for your body to digest as well as other concerns from excessive consumption. I suppose we should all give it up for a month each year to rest the digestive system.

Incidentally salmon fillets were on sale at a big Tesco near me (but not at any of the other 3 near me) for £1.25 for each (minimum) 150g skinless serving so I stocked up also. May go and see about getting more.

    Hello everyone!

Firstly - Zepsgal - congrats on the new job - there is hope! And thanks BT1 for starting us off today!

    Today I have/will:
Check banks - EDF has come out, still waiting for BG refund
    Check CC
    Check TCB
    Swagbucks
Cancelled hotel for graduation and rebooked elsewhere - wasn't overly happy with reviews and hasn't cost me much extra
Food from stores - found a sweet potato chilli I left in the works freezer months ago so had that for lunch - yum!
    Carshare to work
    NSD
    Work hard!
Go back to flat and finish packing up - OH coming over later to move me back to my parents (in the interests of money saving... not sure about my sanity though!). Then quick clean of my areas of the flat to ensure deposit is returned!
Spend the rest of the evening bottling ginger beer ready for spring!

Have a great day all xx

    Morning all,
    Money saving activities today:
*Hairwash using free shampoo & hair butter. BUT, I am not finding that I can manage a 4-minute shower (free timer-thingy came last week). I've got quite long hair, but haven't managed quicker than 6 or 7 mins yet. Pathetic. Must try harder!
*Used Economy 7 tariff overnight to run washing machine at 30 degrees plus slow-cooker (for chicken stock).
*Big items of laundry hung outside today as it's dry so far.
*Made a chicken stew & put in slow cooker for tomorrow's dinner.
*Decided to divide rubber chicken again & make a pie as well, to use some left-over pastry I bunged in the freezer at Christmas.
*Breadmaker dough programme on - friend coming for lunch tomorrow & if I do a bit of baking, I can do us both a nice lunch for no additional spend.
*Done surveys.......had to smile as I got through two of a very intimate nature......then got kicked out of one on coffee!! TBH, I'm not bothered what they're about, as long as I keep racking up the points for vouchers!
*NSD for me, but not for Mr f, who managed to leave his entire packed lunch in the fridge today......& it was his favourite sandwiches.....wonder if he can get through Morrison's till without a cheese & onion pasty as well as a sandwich.......I wouldn't bet on it!
    Cheers,
    foxgloves x

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for starting us off bt1, hope you're feeling much better now.
Josie - Hope it all goes well with the broker.
Zepsgal - Fantastic news, congratulations! What will you be doing?
mrsdee - I don't really understood why some people think it's cruel to eat red meat & poultry but don't have a problem with fish, can you explain what you mean by that? When I was veggie I cut out all meat including seafood. I blame pepperoni & bacon for me being a semi carnivore again...:o Anyway glad you're happy with your decision :)
Foxgloves - I'm just as bad if not worse...I also have long hair & if I need to shave too I take even longer!
La e - Thank you for your advice yesterday, I think I am going to go for it because if I try in 6 months we should be nearly debt free anyway, so it's worth a shot we won't be applying for anything else for at least another year (I'm thinking better mortgages not more credit cards before people scold me, hehe!)

    Today I have/will:-
    • Made use of free water at work
    • HM porridge pot for brekkie
    • B/L/D from stores
    • Leftovers for lunch
    • Staying in for my lunch break to avoid spending
    • Log calories on free app
    • Dinner from meal plan - Fajitas since the chicken hadn't defrosted in time to have these last night!
    • Check postcode lottery
    • Charge phone at work
    • Heating off as long as possible & on low when needed
    • Check online banking
    • Check for new mystery shopping opportunities
    • Enter some comps
    • Do at least 1 survey, need to get back into this
    • Declutter & flylady
    • Washing on eco setting using less than the recommended dose of washing liquid
    • Hang up to dry
    • Prepaid (& thus discounted) pole class tonight
    • See if I need to go to Sainsbugs tonight or can hold off another day or 2 by checking meal plan & making a list
    • Use up fruit & pastry by making a strudel or something tonight
    • Responded to someone on FB about possible sale of guitar....fingers & toes crossed people!!!
Hope everyone has a great, MSE day x

Got my Converses in store - £30 instead of the £42 I would have spent.
Did a mini Tesco shop including using money off vouchers. Would have done this tomorrow but now Wednesday can be an NSD.
Had a cheeky Domino's - £5 pizza lunchtime offer. It's all gone now and will just have a snack tonight.

On the way in, collected my mail and lo and behold - we have tickets for the men's semi finals on Centre Court at Wimbledon. Brilliant, but very very expensive too so lots of moneysaving wil be needed in the meantime.
