Free hire car upgrade

I recently found a way to upgrade from the cheapest hire car to a much larger one. I booked a flight on a budget airline and was offered a special rate on a hire car, at the end on the booking process. On arriving at my destination I was last off the plane and had a hold bag to collect. When I got to the arrivals hall there was a long queue at the car hire desk. All my fellow passengers had beaten me to the front. End result was all the small cars had gone and I was given a luxury car for the same price.

OR, the expected returns are late in and they had no cars, saw that in Barcelona.

Yep,we did that with Dollar in Orlando.
Flew with Virgin Atlantic,Dollar were the partner hire car firm.
Took our time getting off plane and into customs,nice upgrade for 2 weeks.:j

On the flip side, they may have no cars left and you may be waiting around for ages.

I do accept though that it can and does work
