Redeeming a Travelzoo Voucher

I'm not going to use any hotel/personnel names on this thread, but here's some food for thought..
I recently made a booking for an overnight stay in a 4* hotel with a travelzoo voucher and had some difficulties which led me into the following discussion with the hotel manager;

me; given your terms and conditions, you theoretically had 535 nights to sell in the "classic room"(not taking into account the ones you've already sold or the fact that non-travelzoo customers might want this type of room) included in the offer and sold 528 vouchers.Isn't that a bit close for comfort?

hotel manager; without going into "the technicalities" of the hotel business ( no patronising here then) , this is not a problem as 100 travelzoo customers will "happily pay" £30 to upgrade and 100 customers will pay £60 to upgrade further.:rotfl:

Any comment? I'd be particularly interested in hearing from people working in the Leisure industry.
