Harassed For Debt

Hi I just this morning received a letter from "Callserv" saying I owe over 300 quid from a debt management company arrow. And they say they will send a debt door collector around to talk to me about a repayment plan and my circumstances.

I am a vulnerable adult and I know for a fact the debt is not mine. What do I do? I live in shared housing and my last place my support worker was brilliant and got the police involved who told the debt collectors to stop harassing me until they investigate and provide evidence I had the debt.

Do you still have a support worker who can act on your behalf with the debt company?

If not go to your local CAB they'll contact the debt company on your behalf and get the matter sorted out for you.

In the mean time try not to worry too much, if its definitely not your debt there's nothing the debt company can do. Keep their letters to show your support worker/CAB but don't reply to them.

Thanks for your help. I will give them to the manager I gave the letters to her before and she said she would sort them out. Part of my condition is to naturally worry about things. I have a clear conscious so they can investigate as much as they like I know it's my debt.

Like my support worker said, the office closed now so ring on Monday but try not to worry, if it's not my debt I won't have to pay like you said (still won't stop me worrying lol but makes me feel abit better)

If it is not your debt they cannot touch you. They have made the mistake here and you have nothing to worry about.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

Do I have to prove to them it's not my debt or do they have to prove it was me who had the debt? my old support workers who got the police involved said it was the debt collectors responsibility to prove it was me by investigating.. but I'm hearing different things..

any help? I'm really worried about a bailiff coming round, I live in a supported housing complex and have anxiety attacks..

The debt collector has to prove it. End of. No exceptions.

Whatever "different" thing you have heard is wrong.

Debt collectors are not bailiffs. You only get those with court orders, and you and a whoever is dealing with this for you would have heard if that was the case.

Very very unlikely anyone will call. If they do, they can be told to naff off.
