Ok, i need help, im frustrated, stressed and upset and don't know what to do.

Dec 2012. Hopped on bus to go 3stops to pick up son from school as i was running late.
- i am entitled to half price oystercard
- having come back from a short weekend break the day before. I had not sorted out my purse. In turn did not have my photocard.
- inspector fines me. But i hve my passport luckily in my jacket . To prove that the oyster card is mine as the name and address that is registered is a match.
- inspector assures me that as long as i prove online that the photocard is mine then i definitley will not pay the fine. He calls his colleage who also confirms this.

Get home and do the online appeal.

My appeal gets rejected. Because i didnt have my photocard... Well then why give the option in the appeal to prove that the oyster card belongs to me???
- bare in mind that it is now christmas. I am not at home because i am looking after my mum who is partly disabled. And my mail always gets mixed up with next door neighbours.

So january 2nd is when i had received the rejection letter. I realise that the mail has come late, and my time to do a 2nd appeal has overlapsed. Still i try appeal and they receive my appeal on the 4th jan 2013.

My fine doubles to £80 because my appeal was late.
So i search the internet to find a contact number for IRCAS - the people who deal with the fines. They tell me that it is not in their hands anymore and that the debt collectors are in a different building. They have no contact number or no address. I have no proof that it is late appeal because i had thrown the envelope. I then appeal again regardless. And it goes up to £110. ... Dont even know why!

So. What can i do??? Tfl has passed the fine to a debt collection agency. I clearly cannot afford £110. Why have they been unfair? Therwe is no contact numbers or no email services. I have not been mallicious and used someone elses oyster card. I was simply in a rush. Being in a rush is costing me £110 + 65p fare.

Travelling without a valid Oyster card is what cost you £110. Why didn't you pay a cash fare?

It may seem harsh but in their view you travelled without a ticket and I can see why they wouldn't have any sympathy. Hopefully someone will be able to give you some advice.

    That doesn't make sense.

Your oyster card is not valid without your photocard.

sorry but u have fallen foul of the greedy train companies exploitation of the byelaws which is an easy way of making a quick buck or £110

jobsworth inspectors will say anything to ensure that u
    1. dont punch him on the nose
    2. walk away as a honest passenger thinking ur right to appeal will be honoured :rotfl::rotfl:. he wud have had a good laugh at ur expense with his colleage later on over a cup of tea.

private car parking tickets now have better chances of been appealed than TFL appeals

they dont care about that. they've just just doubled the penalty. increasing profits

if it has gone to the debt collectors they have no powers wots so every and will only threaten/bully u into paying. the only time they will has any power is if it goes to court

    so u have a choices
    1. pay up
    2. call the debt collectors bluff and c if they take u to court
    3. ignore the debt collectors letters and c if the debt collectors become desperate and make u a final offer normally this is half of the debt if paid in certain amount of time.

65p fare? I thought it was expensive in London?
cost you £1.50 here for that journey
really all this grief over 65p because you felt the rules didnt apply to you
you get a 50% discount on the Oyster card already
I would have simply paid the fare in the first place when boarding the bus

But the OP "Hopped on bus". Where do the train companies come in to it?

Ahh I see you're still knocking about full of either false information and talking rubbish. Read the OP again and then come back and tell us which rail company it was that caught the op.

Also they have not doubled the penalty at all. On any TfL service its an £80 penalty fare reduced to £40 if paid within 14 days.

So much talk but so little knowledge.

If i was given the option to just pay the full 1 way fare upfront which is £1.50 then i wouldve paid it. But obviously inspectors do not work like that. There would be no point in trying to lurch for fines because then everyone would do it don't u think? in this scenario i am 1 of the few people who dont let people burrow my oyster card.So in this case because my appeals were rejected the amount is £110 to pay.

For any next time this happens to me. I now know to just run away from the inspector.

What an upstanding citizen you are. People have tried to be helpful but you're still ignoring the obvious:-

    1) You travelled without a valid ticket, that's no-one elses fault.

    2) You could have just paid the cash fare when you got on to the bus rather than trying to get away with it.

    3) If it happens again PAY THE CASH FARE rather than trying to get away with it. Then the inspector won't have a problem with you.
