Are you a dedicated kitchen gardener? Do you love nurturing your radishes and tomatoes so you can proudly serve them up for dinner? We’re launching a competition to discover which of your home-grown crops you are most proud of.
The winner will see their entry inspire the November 2007 New Covent Garden Soup of the Month – complete with their name on the carton. They will also win £750 of National Garden Gift Vouchers to spend at garden centres across the UK, plus VIP tickets to the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.
Unearthing a winner
The panel of judges want you to tell them which vegetable you grow that you are proudest of and would most like to see made into a seasonal soup – for November– with your reasons for this. (It doesn’t matter what size of plot you have – crops from urban balconies are just as welcome as those from fully formed cottage gardens). Entrants can also include a few photos and any secret tips for growing their vegetable to perfection.
The winner and two finalists will be presented with their prizes at the Growing and Showing Marquee, sponsored by the New Covent Garden Food Co. at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. The two runners up will receive VIP tickets to the show and £100 of National Garden Gift Vouchers.
For your chance to win, choose your favourite crop from your vegetable plot and explain why you think it would make a great seasonal soup ingredient for the November Soup of the month in no more than 100 words. Also send in any growing tips and, if possible, a few photos. The winner will be the entrant with the vegetable that most inspires the judges to give it the New Covent Garden Food Co. treatment to become the Soup of the Month in November 2007.
This soup will be on supermarket shelves nationwide and the winner’s name will feature on the pack. The winner will also win £750 worth of National Garden Gift Vouchers and VIP day tickets to the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show on 8 July 2007. Two runners up will receive £100 of gift vouchers each and tickets to the show.
