Paid by Phone and given ticket

I paid the parking charge by phone and got a text back confirming that i was ok until 5.17pm. Got back to the car and there was a penalty Charge on the windscreen for failure to display a valid ticket - issued at 1.45pm I caled the company UKCP and they said I'd have to appeal using their procedure. I can do this but I have to take the time to scan their "fine" and submit the details.

if I just ignore it as I have evidence that I paid, could they actually sue me for the "fine"?

    They couldn't sue you anyway.

Well, they could try, if they were stupid.

You'd win hands down, they know this, they'd be very very foolish to try court.

If you are in Scotland, ignore it.

If you are in England/Wales, either ignore it all or appeal with your evidence, and then appeal again to POPLA as discussed on every thread on the first page on the board. You will need to be very detailed when wording your POPLA appeal, with legal challenges in there as well, so come back again when you get to that stage.

Here's a couple of threads about UKPC:

No, they won't sue you. And if you're the sort of person who will be OK and comfortable with ignoring all the letters then you can certainly ignore the whole scam. We have all ignored some ourselves. Lots of letters will follow, hope you are not easily scared by junk mail:

HTH, if you don't want that junk mail all year then appeal it and then take it to POPLA but with advice from here for a VERY strongly worded appeal, as well as the point that you've paid (funnily enough you may need technical points to win the POPLA appeal, if UKPC somehow manage to rebut your points).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks to you all - I just assumed that they screwed up somehow but checking the links it's clear that they're scammers. It's a company car so I have to let them know I'm the driver as my company will pay on the next notice and dock the 'fine' and an admin fee from my pay.

I'll try their appeal process first, then POPLA if necessary. Wonder if i can invoice them for my time and stress....

    Just send a brief appeal

I wish to appeal your invoice. I have already paid by phone. You may check your records to verify this. I will not be entering into further correspondence, and require you to cancel you invoice or issue a POPLA code within 35 days.

If they are stupid enough to go to POPLA it will then cost them £27
