Cancellation of flights due to illness

Hi everyone
Apologies if this post sounds obvious but i'd rather ask.
My partner paid a bargain price for two flights to Lima at end of January this year for travel in May and paid on his credit card with ebookers.
We haven't booked travel insurance yet (Moral of this story!) and I have encountered back and leg problems and unable to walk.
The tickets are non refundable, I did try to ring ebookers twice but cut off twice.
Does anyone know if paying on his barclaycredit card gives you any cover for this or if appealing to ebookers better half if they would refund anything.
Ive tried looking around on the net and looking in circles.
Thanks in advance

Oh dear, another case of an expensive lesson learned. You must take out insurance when you book your travel, ebokers is just the travel agent, your contract is with the airline and it appears you knew the tickets were non refundable, the best you can hope for is a refund of the taxes but even that doesn't always happen, BA for example offers no refund at all on its cheapest long haul fares.
Your credit card is not relevant in this case, you can only claim if a supplier lets you down, not because you are unable to travel. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news....0 -

Do you mean if there is any travel insurance attached? If so, call them and ask, that's a much better way to find out than ask people in here to guess.0 -
Ive done an online chat with bookers and well end up getting £52 back if we had to cancel so better than nothing i guess. Yes you're right about the travel insurance-I know this now. Thanks anyway.0

Check your bank accounts and credit cards for any insurance included. Other than that you might get the taxes back if you push for them.0
