dmpay help

Hi all.
I'm wondering if anyone can help. My situation is regarding a old littlewoods account. I started receiving debt letters from dmpay saying I owe £200+ I remember the account being paid many years ago yet when I called the debt collection agency they are saying I owe this money. I have asked for proof of this and statement showing where they came up with this amount. I received 1 summary sheet of paper which said goods £1678.08 and payments £1680. In my eyes they should owe me. It has another column that states misc £12:50?
I have been in email contact with them asking where they are getting the sum off over £200 from and the last email I received from them was last October and they say still no full statement received from littlewoods. The problem with this debt is that it is a bad debt on my credit file that I have been trying to sort out since ladt september. Anyone have any advice on what to do next? I want this removing from my credit file or showing as settled but don't know what to do.
Thanks for any advice in advance. :-)

    Firstly, NEVER phone DCA's.

Send them the "prove it" letter and sit back and relax.
  • Thank you haveybobbles. The problem is it is on my credit file and I want it sorted out. It is showing as the red circle with an 8 inside. This has been ages that I have been trying to deal with it and its stalemate. They can't get statements for me yet its still on my credit file as a bad debt. I'd pay it if I knew it was unpaid but I know it was paid years ago because my grandparents paid it when they were alive. I'm starting uni in September as a mature student and I'm highly unlikely to get a student account with my credit file at the minute. Hence signing up to credit expert. It's getting better slowly but surely
  • I also did a notice of correction on credit expert today. Not sure of it will do anything though

What was the correction and who made it?
  • They keep saying littlewoods have not got back to them. This was back in september I requested them. Originally it was arrow global debt collect they passed it back to dmpay.
I did the notice of correction saying this debt is paid and correspondence stopped on their behalf

    Ignore then.

If you have asked them for statements and they havent come up with them them ignore these fools.

    Debt probably doesnt exist.
