DLA paid into bank - no letter advising result of claim.

My sister applied for DLA in February, had a doctor visit her at home in April and heard nothing since then. She has just found out that a DLA payment has gone into her bank without her being advised of her claim success. Is this normal? It seems to be a payment of £17 something backdated to her original claim date on her form so she's apparently been awarded the lowest rate for either care or mobility. Does her GP get advised of the outcome of her claim by the DWP? He was contacted by them when they were dealing with it. Also she's on IB at the moment so does this mean that the doctor will continue to provide sick lines for her now that she's been assessed as qualifying for DLA or could he sign her off?

she should have been advised of the decision the letter may have gone astray if she is not happy with the award she can appeal, the GP will not be told of the decision the dwp will advise your sister when she no longer has to send in sick notes,it is normal procedure for them to contact her GP when you claim DLAplease do not pick on me for my grammar,I left school at fifteen and worked in the building trade for 55years ,

I think she'll be afraid to appeal because so many people get refused DLA now compared to a while ago. She has osteoporosis resulting in several broken bones at different time including each of her wrists which haven't healed well. She has other health problems as well - several in fact. She thinks that she's lucky to be granted it as she reads of so many people with serious conditions like strokes etc who have been refused. Does the DWP get sent the result of her claim?0

I do not think she will be rejected. SHe can ask for a review of it, then an appeal. *though they do do an review with an appeal*
Personally, if it is £17 then it is not DLA. DLA low rate care / mobility is £17.10 each and is paid every 4 weeks. So if it was backdated from Febuary it would be about £136.80.
Do not worry about letters - they will come soon, and possibly if she gets income support, a cheque in another letter for backdated DLA premiems

Before she does anything, she needs her decision letter, which should have been sent.
Give DLA Unit a ring and ask them to send the notice.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.
