Double Yellows - help please

Hi, I parked on an area that had double yellow lines. However they were very tatty - missing in places, no lines at the end etc. I got a ticket so appealed as I thought as the lines had to be complete. However my appeal has been turned down - the council accept they're tatty but said the intention of no parking is clear. Should I take this further? Thanks in advance for your comments

That page is slightly out of date I'm afraid. It still holds very true for incorrectly marked or poorly signed lines but more recently, PATAS have taken a more relaxed view of "normal wear and tear" - which makes it much harder to challenge a ticket on worn-out lines that were ok to begin with.
They need to be really flaming scrappy now!
However it may be worth the OP taking this to the experts at Pepipoo - be ready to scan both sides of the ticket and depersonalise them - there may be other things wrong with it that will be worth challenging.0 -
From what you've written it sounds like you did park on double yellow lines so...
So...it's not 'illegal' - and often not even a contravention to park on DYL. They do not mean 'absolutely no stopping', contrary to what many people think.
You can load/unload on DYL and the items in question do not necessarily have to be heavy, not does the vehicle have to be a commercial one.
You can collect a child or elderly/infirm/disabled passenger from premises, or take them to premises.
A disabled person can park for up to 3 hrs on DYL with a Blue Badge and clock.
That's just the main exemptions. I think the OP will probably have to pay unless there are flaws with the PCN wording, NTO wording, or the Traffic Order. But before just paying up, pepipoo can advise to be sure whether there's any hope or not:

...but it won't be won on faded lines these days unless they were practically invisible.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
