I have a Permit but forgot sun visor :(

My employer sold the parking at our site to TPS, and changed our staff car park barriers.
We were invited to get a permit and new key for the gate, and now pay monthly for parking at work. I did this, laminated my permit and stuck it in the sun visor (didn't want to advertise where I work by having it stuck in the window).
Today I forgot to put down my visor and the man ticketed my car.
My questions are,
"Have I entered into a contract that will stop me sticking up two fingers to them?"
"What is the best way forward?"

No permit required, as it is now a pay car park, for which you have a key, so you have permission to be there. As you pay for it their can be no loss to the land owner.
keep sticking your fingers up.From the Plain Language Commission:

My usual reply with links is here, which explains all the POPLA stuff and legalities:

If you appeal just say the permit was on your sun visor (true - do NOT elaborate) and the scammer employee 'person' maybe didn't see it but here's a copy. Tell ScammersRUs (the PPC!) that you pay for the privilege of parking offered, so there is no loss and no money owing.
I doubt the car park itself was sold to ScammersRUs was it? If I am right then they cannot even make contracts nor losses due to people parking there in a car park they do not own. Tell the scammers that you will take the matter to POPLA at their own expense if they reject your appeal, where as well as proving you already pay monthly for parking and have a valid permit, you will also point out to POPLA that the parking firm have no possessory title or rights of occupation in the car park property, so their signs cannot create a contract with a driver. Their signs and permit scheme doesn't help them, even if they have a contract to 'work' there they still cannot offer parking spaces or claim losses nor any contract law claim (VCS -v- HMRC refers).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Another ( side point) to consider is as this was a free car parkand now pay monthly for parking at work
If theres any discrepency then the Car park owner/operator could be in for a nasty surprise
Pop the postcode in here, and see whats listed as ratable value

May I also sugest that you print off a few 'pepipoo' flyers and distribute them around your workplace to educate inform and help your colleagues, and depending on your relationship with your work management it might be worth while drawing their attention to this forum, and indeed this thread, either up front or if it may cause you greif - anonymously. From the Plain Language Commission:

""My employer sold the parking at our site to TPS,""
Is this a guess/assumption or are the ppc the landowner?I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
I think that the car parking is contracted out and that the PPC don't own the land.0

That would make sense.Je Suis Cecil.0
