Just put a new Indiset fridge freezer in the kitchen and upon turning it on there seems to be some noise coming from the rear like a kind of air hissing. The fridge and freezer seem to be working fine but this Noise wasn't familiar with my old Electrolux. I also noticed when unwrapping it that there was a small black plastic rubber plug/bung that could have come out of something. Didn't see anywhere it could have come from though

Is this just settling in noise as its new ?

It's ok folks, it has stopped now. Just been informed its the gas settling. Phew.
  • HISSING FRIDGE IS INNOCENT!!!

That'll have gone right over the heads of anyone over 50 or under 40, I suspect.
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.

  • did you let the fridge freezer sit for 24 hours before turning it on ??? you are ment to i believe maybes thats why it hissed for a while if you did not

10 minutes is all you need to let a fridge or freezer stand before turning it on , this is to allow any oil in the pipes to drop back into the compressor incase the fridge was laid down when delivered.
there is a small chance you could get a blockage in the gas pipes if too much oil was in them when compressor started up.
A fridge that has been delivered and stood upright for the whole of the delivery process is ok to immediately turn on.
