is it too early to sow lawn seed?

hi everyone

i've cleared a patch today and the damp has killed off the grass/moss underneath it. i'm guessing it's too early to sow some but just wanted to check?

It is said that the grass seeds need about 5 degrees before germinating, but my golf course throw seeds down all year. The council after digging up the grass verge two weeks ago , threw a handful of seeds down , they are certainly already growing.

Conclusion , seeds are cheap , sow today!
