ignore or reject?

Morning all,
Is it best to just ignore a parking notice from a private firm and wait it out? Or stick your head above the parapet and take the 'militant' route suggested by Martin and write a polite but firm rejection letter to the company in the hope that you won't receive any more letters if they see you know your stuff!

Its usualy up to the individual, and can sometimes also depend upon the circumstances the parking company issued the ticket. From the Plain Language Commission:

Civil Enforcement Ltd. Reduces to £75 if paid in 14 days0

Its most likly safe to ignore, but you do have the option of the militant approach, or playing with them.
Can you appeal to them via e-mail, this will cost you nothing - other than a few minutes of your time or does it have to be by post, costing you a stamp/paper/envelope?From the Plain Language Commission:

total scam, just ignore and all the threat o grams that you will recieve, quick lesson,,,,a legit fine is called ,,a PENALTY charge notice=legal/must be paid/can appeal,,,,you DO NOT have this,,,,you have the FAKE one, known as,,a PARKING charge notice=scam/con/fiddle/=loo paper,,,so there you go, aint this job a belter.0

One more thing before i go, take a good long read through this forum on private parking companys, and take a good read thorugh other sites such as pepipoo, consumer action grou and so on, also try elsewhere, theres a good youtube video from BBC Watchdog about met parking/mc donalds.
and if any one advises you to bin/shred the paperwork - dont, file it in a drawer. From the Plain Language Commission:

If you want to go the popla route it looks like a long drawn out affair designed to put people of costing them and giving up.For everthing else there's mastercard.
For clampers there's Barclaycard.0 -

Surely it only costs the PPC money and, after dragging it out through appeal then POPLA, you can still ignore if you don't like the adjudication?
Apart from the few results on here so far showing a good away form, by tying up the PPCs with time spent on getting their cases right and having to present their authority via their contracts with the landowners, assuming everyone follows the emerging POPLA appeal guides on here, surely that's got to hurt them more than them going through the normal letter chains if you ignore.
All depends upon if you have the time and energy to cause them inconvenience.0 -
If your not up for a fight, ignore it.
Chances of it heading to court are very slim.0
