Do you REALLY know your babysitter? I want to forget I saw this.

Not watching anything that'll make my blood boil. You can only ever truly trust close friends and family.0

I have NO INTENTION of watching that - but then, having read the book I have no intention of watching Schindler's List, either, despite the fact that Oskar Schindler is played by the delicious Liam Neeson. I've read the book - that's enough for me.
And I'm just glad, given the career path I have chosen, that I am not expected to mete out the physical punishment that was commonplace when I was a 'service user' as opposed to a 'service provider'.
Mind you I do not choose to watch many films with 'adult' content; I just do not get horror or !!!!!! as entertainment.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

I had an English colleague who worked on the same principle. Strangely, they were quite happy to leave the baby with any of us! I know I've had children myself, but I'm never entirely sure I'm trustworthy with other people's children. Obviously I'd never harm a child, but I'm not a 'natural'. And I don't think I left mine with people I hadn't observed them with until they were old enough to talk (which was quite early for the younger two!)A Syrian friend of mine told me she wouldn't leave her little boy in a nursery or with a childminder until he was old enough to talk and tell her what happened during the day.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
If the parents suspected this was going on why the hell did they allow her to have access to the children again?? Are they slightly depraved??
The older children had obviously told them something was going on so why did they subject their baby to this again???
Maybe the parents need a police telling off too!
I thought that too, but I guess they still had doubts.
At least now they are able to report her to the police - before they could only have sacked her and it would be their word against hers if they said anything.
Her face is also known now, so she hopefully won't be employed as a babysitter again anytime soon.
I couldn't have left them with her again though. I might if I had a wireless camera and was able to sit somewhere nearby and watch in real time but not otherwise.0 -

Most child abuse occurs within families though.0 -
why has this been put on here anyway?MoneySavingMamma wrote: »I get your point, and i thought that after watching it, why post something like that to upset everyone......
I most certainly did not post this with the intention of upsetting everyone.
I have seen many a post on MSE where someone is advised to 'just get a babysitter' as if it's something you pick up off a shelf.
Some of us don't have the good support network that others do, grandparents may have passed, family don't live nearby, friends in short supply etc.
I live in a small rural place. There are handwritten ads in the newsagents, dog walkers for hire, babysitters available etc. I am sure some people would just automatically 'trust' and hire on spec without knowing background etc. Checks should be made but not everyone does, especially dare I say it, younger Mums. I have no qualms in saying an older grandmother type figure as the one in this video, would be more trusted and taken on face value by some people than perhaps a teenage babysitter might.
I hope this thread makes at least one person wonder if they 'really know their babysitter' which was the point in the thread title.Herman - MP for all!

I do see that but at what cost? The potential brain damage or death of their baby.. seems a bit ridiculous to me.
I don't leave mine with anyone ever either. My older children have looked after the others on a couple of occasions and 1 time the 2 littlest. I simply don't trust anyone except very close family in emergencies and no 'partners' or 'friends' are allowed after my sisters bf gave 1 of mine a paracetamol overdose when he was 2. I was in hospital with my 8 month old and their dad had brought me some bits I needed after they were in bed. DS2 was unwell and got up and my sisters bf gave him half a bottle of calpol.. They didn't get left for years and years after that.
She wouldn't have needed her face to be known if those were my children she would have been dead quite simply.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
That footage is horrific! I would never leave my baby with a complete stranger without having done the appropriate checks. But having said that,an incident happened this week.A relative normally has my child whilst in work, something happened and they were not able to .
My dad stepped in and while he was in garden pegging out washing, my child did a runner.Halfway out the street until some kind people noticed and called the police. My dad was frantic and had raced round to the park which has a main road before above couple had alerted him.
Now I had police at my door and social services will be involved and that is with leaving my child with someone who loves him and I trust.I am seriously considering giving up work now as I feel that the only person my child is safe with is me.0 -

I bet your poor dad was terrified! My oldest daughter once escaped when she was about 2.. she didn't get far but I nearly had a heart attack.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
