And why would you believe it is genuine.....! Have you asked them?
  • If you have received a phishing email purporting to have come from Capital One, please could you report it to your card provider.

    Thanks

Not today, but I've received several in the past.

    Why's it "a disgrace"?

Does the word phishing not mean anything to you?

If Cap One are really sending out emails with links in then there will be an influx of identikit phishing emails with just the target of the link changed.

Any Cap One customer will think it is legit as they will be used to getting similar emails in the past.

I'm aware of what phishing is.

But there's no "if" about it. Here's an example of an email I've received from Capital One:

I've removed my name and the last four digits of my credit card number for security reasons.

So imagine that you're not net savvy/old/in a rush and you receive an identical looking email, but without your name and acct no on it and don't notice - you click on the link that Cap One always provide and bang - your details are phished.

As the OP said a disgrace from Cap One, hardly promoting security are they?

I can imagine all sorts of convoluted scenarios.
