Full and final settlement advice

Hi

Are there any advantages or disadvantages about offering partial, final settlement amounts through Stepchange. We have had a DMP for one year and found them very useful but I just wondered if we should do this next part ourselves.

Thank you

    Thank you

TBH I would not use the DMP and would do it myself as you have far more control over matters. I would only then inform the DMP when the settlement has been made.from the creditor to settle with a figure you are happy with. Please contact National Debtline to ensure that the wording of the response is watertight, to absolve you of any future liability.
Remember with any offer start low and work up if need be.

    If you receive an agreement

    Dear Sir/Madam

    Without Prejudice

    Account No: ************

We write with reference to the money which you are claiming on the above account.

We can confirm that we are unable to offer to pay the money which we owe in full. . However, we can raise
£_____ and we want to offer this as an ex-gratia payment in full and final settlement of the account. This offer
is made on the clear understanding that, if accepted, neither you nor any associate company will take any
other action to enforce or pursue this debt in any way whatsoever and that we will be released from any
    liability.

We also request that, if accepted, you will make an entry on a credit reference agency file relating to the above
account as having been paid and the account closed.

Payment can be made within 2 weeks of receiving your written agreement of this offer and method of
    payment.

We look forward to receiving your reply.

    Yours faithfully
