When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning everyone, wow its been an age since I started the thread! Hope everyone is chipper! Jessie, Stitchy hope work is ok. A philosophy I am trying to apply to myself/work is "least said, soonest mended" NTBY hope you're ok. Ziggy I saw you request for me to come on Tuesday's thread. Sorry have been absent have a lot on and there's only so many hours in the day!

Anyway, can see time ebbing away! My plans for the day

* checked banking - all the same
* worked out how much money I have left for the month, not much if I am going to stick to budget!
* quick shower
* use freebies to wash hair
* in lunch break do an hour's job appl
* NSD
* going to see Anne Widdecome give a free lecture on her thoughts on the future of the NHS later today with my lovely friend. Might talk a flask of hot choc to catch up rather than go to a coffee shop!
* do a load of washing
* write a list of items needed tomorrow so I can get them in one hit!
* all meals from stores

ok that's all I can think of right now! Have a lovely day y'all xxx

    Good morning my lovelies.

    Yesterdays trip to the cinema wasn't so DFW after all, we did get 241 on pizza express and cinema however paid £3.50 for parking but underestimated the time and were half an hour late back to find a £95 parking ticket reduced to £47 if paid within ten days !

    My friend and I are going to split the cost and pay half each, we didn't let it ruin our day though, we had a lovely meal finished with mini choc fudge cake and baileys latte and the film was gripping so wasn't going to let it get me down.

    Today its work 2 to midnight and a NSD other than paying my tea fund money which I saved out of the cash I withdrew from the bank yesterday.

    Had porridge for breakfast and DD had fried egg on toast and will take my lunch to work. She now goes to her dads for four nights will I am at work so won't see her for four days till Monday but then I am off work for the week and need inspiration for things to do with a 13 year old girl that won't cost the earth.

    Anyway I digress,

    have a great day

    much love

    S x

    Make a pretend shop. Sell food from the cupboards.

    Make necklaces from pasta and string.

    Bake cakes and decorate them.

    Go to the local library and choose books or join in with a toddler story or sing-a-long time.

    Make play dough. (Link)

    I have just read the email after I posted! It was a pay and display carpark next to a supermarket which I think belongs to them. It certainly didn't look like a council ticket and the penalty was more than a council fine so going to ask my friend to check the ticket before we pay it. I have a feeling it could be private!
