We are on a water meter, we also have in excess of 70 pots of plants or shrubs in tubs if you prefer.
I suppose they fit into two catorgories, 1) palms, 2)evergreen. You can imagine then I have shape, movement, form, colour, albeit limited and no leaves to pick up. Within the palm area I have nautical items boat, anchor, shells, net, floats, rope and indeed anything collected from beaches over the years. The evergreen area has carefully placed logs, bird feeders, bird bath, cart wheels etc and a host of birds that use the area daily. In cidently we are now welcoming to our window sill, a blackbird, robin and young robin.
But I digress!. The title was "you already do this", well what I/we do, is have 2/3 trugs of water at one end of the garden and another 2/3 at the top end. (For the most part it is salvaged water from the house as we have no downpipe to save water or outside tap), and in these trugs which we refer to as plunge pots we place as many of our containers in, in rotation. That way we know that they get a good soaking. We also keep an old plastic washing up bowl and after the soaking, they drain off in that.
