Hi guys,

I intended to fly to dublin on friday and return sunday morning.

I knew its late to get a deal but i cant help it because of my jobs.

The cheapest i have seen is £180.

I prefered heathrow ot gatwick.

Anyone have a magic for this trip?

Ryanair from Stansted about £64 (assuming no bags).

Also Luton £58. Gatwick is a bit pricier.

In all cases, you need the v. early flights to get the cheapest.

    Edit:

It's the outbound that's expensive for Gatwick. If you don't mind switching airports, you could go from Luton and back to Gatwick for £77

Considering it's Ireland v England in the Six Nations rugby in Dublin on Sunday, it's not surprising that the outbound is expensive but the return should be reasonable as it's before the match.

Perhaps the prices have increased since yesterday. When you're this close to departure, 24 hours can mean a big difference in price.

    No, it was return.

But as jpsartre said, looks like the prices have increased significantly in 24 hours.

(In this case, I seem to remember they were selling a couple of flights with 'No taxes' fares, which saves about £30 each way. Unfortunately, the no taxes fares have disappeared now for your dates and the base fare has gone up :( )

This close to departure a single hour can make a big difference.

    I see.

Do they do that ''no taxes'' a lot?

    Cheers

Very common. I think pretty much the only reason for doing it is to cause confusion among passengers. (And to allow them to advertise low headline prices. As long as some flights are available at the advertised price, they're OK.)

Look at 14 Feb, Stansted to Dublin, for example. There's one flight (leaving at 0630) with no taxes.

It's advertised at £37.99, but turns out to be £23.74 + assorted extras of £14.25. But these aren't what Ryanair calls 'taxes'. They're just bits of the fare they've decided to separate out.

The next cheapest is the 0805 flight, advertised at £70.41. It turns out the base fare is actually lower, at £22.99, but the extras are much higher. The same £14.25 as before, plus another £33.17 of tax.

There's at least one other category of fare called 'Free Online Checkin', where the £6 per sector fee isn't there.

Or at least there used to be. It keeps changing. At least the fares appear straight away now. You used to get prices of 1p show on the results page, but you wouldn't know the actual price until you'd selected a flight. Sometimes it stayed at 1p, sometimes the taxes were £9.99 precisely. Sometimes they were more like the 'official' taxes in the £30ish range. You never knew. It was like a little surprise.

Just part of the fun of Ryanair. ;)
