Bryan Carter/Fredricksons are terrifying my elderly parent.

I found several references on this forum re Bryan Carter & Fredricksons so wondered if anyone could give me some advice regarding them.
My elderly mother has received 3 letters from these people in the last month or so, they are addressed to a person she's never heard of but at my mother's address.
The 1st letter she received she put back in the post saying 'not known at this address.' (I believe this was just before Xmas but do not know the date as my dad died on the 15th December and things that happened in December are pretty hazy.
The 2nd letter dated 4/1/13 is from Fredricksons talking about an outstanding debt with NatWest bank still in this unknown person's name but at my mother's address. My mother assumed the 1st one she returned had maybe crossed in the post so ignored this 2nd one.
The 3rd letter arrived dated 15/1/13 from Bryan Carter on behalf of Fredricksons saying she must discuss repayment arrangements or debt recovery action will be taken against her.
My brother phoned the 0845 number provided on 22/1/13 & told them this person does not & has never lived at this address & they said they would 'take the address off the list.'
I am obviously hoping this will be the end of it but my mother who is 81 & recently widowed after 62 years is terrified someone will break down her door & take all her furniture. It is making her quite ill.
I was going to follow up my brother's phone call with a letter to reiterate we don't know the person on the letter but don't want to provide them with our name (they tried to get it & all sorts of details out of my brother but luckily he didn't tell them anything.)
So really my questions are do we leave it now to see if they keep writing (trying to reassure my mother they won't break her door down in the meantime) & what should we do if they do write again?
This might all be unnecessary as of today (4/1/13) we haven't heard anything else from them (yet) but she's so frightened I promised I would do something to help.
Any advice would be appreciated.

What on earth are these people told all their lives?

Make it clear to the old lady that this is simply not an option. It cannot happen. They cannot force entry and she is under no obligation to co-operate with a doorstepper. She need only tell them to go away and shut the door...end of.

I would go one step further. By all means follow up with a letter and be sure to impress on them and continued attempts to contact this person after this date now constitute harrassment...a criminal charge. Ask them if they care to up the ante because you're about to report them to the OFT, the FSA and the bleeding police if they dont stop bothering you.

They might well have got the message, but the above suggestion for a stiff letter should suffice if it hasnt.
