Credit card or debit card for paying flights?

Hi,
On the Cheap flights page, it suggests to pay by credit card to get protection. However, some booking agencies charge 3% fees when using credit card. I am search overseas flights for the whole family in summer. The total price is around £1,500, which mean £45 extra fees if I use credit card to pay. Is it worth to pay £45 for protection?
The travel agency I found the best deal is called Leads Travel
I never heard this agency/website. Is it reliable if I pay by debit card (to save the £45 fee)?

At that price I'd look at regular travel insurance for cover. Note, however, that most standard policies don't cover an airline going bust. Which airline will you be using? Some airlines are very unlikely to go under by this summer (though obviously there are no guarantees).
I would personally stay far away from that site you mention. Book direct from the airline instead, that reduces the risk if any screw-ups or outright scams.0 -
Thank you, jpsartre.
I rang 'Leads Travel' this morning and was told that the price shown on their website £580 wasn't available now. The price now is £699, which is even more expensive than others. The airline is Emirates.0 -

Have you tried getting a price direct from the airline? I book with BA and Emirates all of the time and they just impost a flat fee for credit card bookings (£4.50, I think) rather than a percentage of the fare.0 -
I book direct and tend to use my credit card xThe Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0

Hi all,
I'm trying to book on Monarch and was wondering whether or not to do so with a credit or debit card?
Thank you.0 -
