Just been transferred from Incapacity benefit to ESA but I still haven’t been paid

So to cut along story short I've been transferred from incapacity benefit to the work related activity group on ESA but I haven’t received any further correspondence from the DWP and I noticed that last weeks payment hasn't gone into my account. Now the problem is I have a bad stammer so I can't simply call up so I was just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems? I was half expecting it would resolve itself but it's been over a week now.

  • Have you got a friend or a relative who can phone up the DWP and ask on your behalf?

Did you fit any of the descriptors for the support group??
  • Hi, thanks for the reply SpellKaster

I have but I don't really want to ask

Well that's the thing I was actually going to appeal but with the amount of stress it's taken just to get on benefits in the first place I simply haven't got the energy to do it all over again plus I think it's gone past the appeal date anyway.
  • esa is payed fortnightly not weekly like incapacity benefit was (in many cases) so you would not get a first esa payment until two weeks after your last ib payment.

also you can still download and fill in a gl24 appeal form and send it off to your local dwp office explaining your reasons for the delayed appeal (which can be for up to 13 months after original decision) - it will likely be accepted as a late appeal
