Warning to Powergen Customers !!!

I wasn't sure where to put this has I feel it is something that Powergen customers need to be aware of.

Appologies if this has already been posted, I had a search but couldn't see it anywhere.

Now the important stuff Powergen have changed the way payments are being collected and have a new 3rd party collecting card payments. They have problems with this and I felt I needed to warn customers who have called to pay their utility bill over the phone with their credit card and have been told by Powergen that the payment has not gone through because the 3 digits on the signature strip are invalid.

Check with your bank before letting powergen put the card details through again !!!

I had called over a couple of days to make a payment and was told the payment wasn't going through, when infact the payment was clearing at the bank but there was a problem with powergens system. Instead of paying my original bill of £332.27 I had in actual fact payed £332.27 x 9 = £2,990.43 as over the period I had called they had put the card details through 9 times

I only became aware of this when I tried to use my card again later in the day and the card was declined. I called up my bank to query this and was informed that my card had been stopped for fear of fraud since there had been so many payments taken by powergen.

I'm not sure if this problem is just with credit cards or includes all debit cards too. but please check with your bank if you feel you may have been effected by this. Powegens new system has been in place apparently for the last week or so, so it could just be over this time period where the problems have been with the payments.
