My son's renewal in Nov came in at £1500. In January, we rang the insurance company and asked them to provide a brand new quote for 12 months. The company tried to obstruct us by saying there would be admin charges and that he'd lose the 2 months NCB that he'd got since the renewal.
The new quote came back at £1050!!!

We cancelled the original policy and bought the new one and we are now awaiting a refund of the difference. The price had come down due to the changes in law regarding sex descrimination between male and female drivers.

I'd recommend anyone with a young driver (male especially) to do the same!!

2 months cover at the short term policy rate + £75 admin fee and charges for legal protection etc. = £449.

    Saving £1 :)

My insurance was exactly the same as last year which was the same as the year before.
