This is the best news that we could hear, especially as I bought a house from someone who hadn't paid the bills for 6 months, as they were in the middle of a divorce

  • FYI, the regulations are to be enshrined in law if it all successfully goes through parliament and are as a result of a five month consultation period following government proposals announced last year.

The new regulations, assuming legislation passes through parliament, won't come into force before spring/summer 2014 at the earliest (that's my estimate though it's possible I could be wrong)

We moved in 2007, but for those in the same situation, this is going to make life much easier for people in the same situation.

IMO, the best way to tackle aggressive bailiffs (indeed any unwanted callers), is from an upstairs window, with a camcorder. :p

The previous tenant, at this address, doesn't seem to have notified anyone, that he has moved.

The amount of mail I get, addressed to him, is

We've all had agressive and intimidating callers. I even had two very large gentlemen who not only insisted I *must* be the person they were looking for, they even wouldnt let me shut the door when I told them to get lost. I took a threatened phone call to the police for them to finally back off.

So, the question is, does this 'regulation' only apply to licenced bailiffs, or do they mean the more intimidating and even less law abiding 'debt collectors' which are not the same thing at all.

OK - that's what I wanted to see (I think) but it's going to take a bit of time to wade through them. Thanks.
