Just a rant.... Feedback!

So I have recently started selling on ebay!
I getting rid of my craft things, and other junk....
Im not making lots of money, but its been a help this past 2 weeks!

I have sold 25 items, I have another few listed, but I am holding off until Sat to save yet more money!

Out of the 25 items, all posted on the same day, or the next day, all recorded delivery, (even a large coat, that i took a hit on with postage.... infact I didnt make any money on it)

8 have left feedback :-(

One was the coat, and i think the buyer realised it was a bargain!:rotfl:

I know i will get my 10 so i can see my INDEPTH seller ratings... but I wanna see them now:(:o

Anyways....
Tomorrow is Friday!
Almost the weekend!!

If you sent them all recorded and they were low value, you may end up wishing you could make your stars disappear!

I do tend to agree with theonlywayisup, You might want to have a look at the sticky postage thread.

8 out of 25 is quite a low rate of return for feedback (I assume you have left yours already), it may be that assuming items have all arrived the buyers have decided not to leave feedback for some reason.

When I sell, I never leave feedback until the buyer has left feedback, then I know that they got the item and are happy with it. Now, I make a note in the item description, asking the buyers to leave feedback so that I know that all is well. Might be useful to do this weekend when you are listing your other items.

No, seriously don't, adding that to your listings shows a certain desperation, or maybe a worry that your goods are somehow not likely to please.

Feedback is not compulsory, some buyers will not leave it until a seller does, and some don't leave it at all. Also, there is no requirement to acknowledge receipt of goods by leaving feedback, so any mention of that is best avoided.

  • I have had a look at the sticky.

But it seems the only way I am fully protected is to use Signed for or Special delivery.
A lot of the things I am (getting rid off) selling, I cant replace! :-(

I don't leave a seller feedback unless they leave me Feedback!

I've just had to do a combined postage invoice, for someone..... I almost posted on here asking for advice, but I found a thread that answered it for me!

Have a great weekend everyone x

protected against what? Special is required for items over £46 purely in case of loss en route and I doubt that anyone would say that is a bad idea.

However you said you were merely selling off old craft items and junk, which implies less than £46. Therefore you are agreeing with my statement that you are only protecting yourself against scam buyers, as normal mail would cover you for loss in items did not arrive. Recorded is not more secure, it is not faster and it gives no additional compensation against loss.

Yes, I am protecting myself against scam buyers, or dishonest people. (I know not everyone is:o) But until I build up the stars I feel I have to!
I know when I see a red or grey on someone's feedback, I wont buy from them.
I really don't want one of those, not so early on!!
My children are growing like brackens, I could possibly have 5 or 6 items per month to sell! (i know not much, however every little helps as the advert goes)

Assuming all your recorded items have tracked to delivery (and in many areas of course they don't, but you might be lucky) then at least you know they have arrived. However that then implies that either buyers are just a bit tardy in leaving feedback, or they have deliberately chosen not to leave any- and that s a slight concern. Your statement though suggests why an earlier response should be noted, you don't trust the buyers therefore perhaps them knowing that means you really don't want them to leave feedback.

In my experience it is unusual to get 100% of buyers to leave feedback across any time period, I'm sure some people do but I imagine they are unusual. However, your ratio seems low and perhaps you are right to have a slight concern. I average about 90-95% feedback left on my private account, slightly less on my business account.

yep i can understand you protecting yourself this early in your feedback rating, but with time, you will worry less and less as the time goes on, i didnt get my first neg until i was over 500, it hurt me, and i worried about it, especially as i , like you, have even lost out on postage, by trying to give the best deals i can, and to please all.. the most important thing though, is you have not received any negs out of the feedbacks you are waiting for... as long as you are honest and always describe items exactly as they are, even with faults, you can soon not worry too much over bad feedbacks, (even though ebay won't) and just accept that there are some buyers/sellers that can never be pleased, it's in their nature.

Noted. Thank you. I had been told that it was a good idea. TBH, I have 100% FB and am certainly not desperate in anyway. It just gives me peace of mind to know that they got the item and are happy with it.
I will take your advice on board as you have a lot more experience than me, and I am here to learn!
