Hand-washed blinds... disaster!

Hi all,

I recently moved into a house that had vertical blinds and they were rancid with dirt, plaster dust and general crap. So I read on here to hand wash them in the bath with a little soap (I used babybath), so I did, then hung them over the maiden to dry.

Problem is, I've hung them back up and they have kinks in them, are wrinkled and various shades of clean :/

Any suggestions on how to fix them? I cant afford new ones as my five year old daughter suggested! lol!

Thanks xXx

MummyMoo,when my wife washes our blinds she takes them down and rolls them up then puts them in a pillowcase and washes them in the washing machine, they have been washed several times and still look ok.DO NOT FORGET TO TAKE THE WEIGHTS OUT OF THE BOTTOMS FIRST.when she takes them out after the spin cycle she re-hangs them with the weihts in and they dry ok.

I've washed mine in the bath before now, they're only short ones though so I've not had to hang them over anything. Might be worth washing them again, blotting with towels and hanging up straight away. (with some towels underneath though) I also don't see why you can't use some proper washing powder.

I always wash mine this way, and they come out fine. Put them on a lower spin and hang straight away whilst damp and any kinks will fall out.

The same thing happened to me.

They were beyond repair, but new slats were only 99p each from ebay and they still look good 2 years later.
