Have you got an existing version you can use to upgrade from?0

No I've not got any previous copies. Totally new to it - have signed up to a class but they don't do student copies for us as it's a community centre & so I can't get a student email address. .Good Enough Club member number 240

A few took advantage of this,
http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html
the version of Photoshop is version two but probably quite near to all versions of Elements
You just need to download the file and then enter the serial number, maybe best to save the file and the serial number in a folder in case you need to re-install it.
Photoshop CS2 is near the bottom with downloads for MAC or Windows
You could get Creative Suite CS2 instead which should include photoshop

The link in the first post on santers link shows PSE5 is available I have just upgraded to PSE11 from PSE5 and the differences are mainly cosmetic. Although the older system does not support newer Camera Raw formats which is why I upgraded.
I have not used link so do not know if it's ok.

Thank you for all the tips and links. Still reading up the options and trying to understand the terminology & how the versions differ - not easy! I'm on a Windows 7 Professional 64 though so will probably end up buying a newer version though - seems simpler even if it's not as cheap!Good Enough Club member number 240

I'm a digital artist and I've been using Photoshop CS2 (the one available above, that Adobe released for free) since it came out without issue. What would you be using the program for?
This site is selling Photoshop Elements 11 license for £70, as well as various others that may work for you. http://www.software4education.co.uk/acatalog/Adobe.html However, you get discounts as a student on many of the items-as you have to provide proof, it may be worth seeing if proof of you being enrolled in a class counts. Might not, but it's worth a try!
Edit: Forgot to link the products with the student discounts: http://www.software4education.co.uk/acatalog/AdobeEducation.html0
