Freeview & Sky sports

Getting seriously cheesed off with OH & refusal to cancel sky. Our total income is £900 for 3 adults which is tight (we dont claim benefits).
The sky TV bill is £67.50, which includes Sky entertainment +sports + extra sub for sons room.

Is there any way of going freeview & paying to watch footy when there is a special match on?

    Try going with BT Vision.

It's a Freeview recorder but you can subscribe to Sky Sports 1 and 2 only for about 10 quid.

Why don't you claim benefits, from your level of income and the fact you have a child (I read that right did I?) you must be entitled to some help.

Yes this is correct there are hundreds of streaming sites.

  • If he absolutely, positively won't cancel Sky, at least phone them up and threaten to cancel saying you can't afford it. At the very least, you *should* get offered a better rate.

  • I have also been wondering this recently, I pay £60+ for sky TV, broadband and phone, don't even use the phone, just have to have it for the broadband, and I have sports package, thats the only reason I have sky TV.
I wouldnt mind getting a freeview box but dont want to lose sky sports, had been using footy stream websites previously but sometimes links arent available or the quality is very poor and you miss goals due to buffering hence why I subscribed to sky.
So if there is a service where I can get a set-top box with no monthly cost or just a basic package with sky sports, and keep my broadband, for cheaper than what i am getting now, excellent.

What, benefits as a means of retaining Sky? I can see this thread going wrong.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

I dont believe Delree is suggesting I claim benefits to retain a sky subscription but pointing out that on our level of income we would probably be entitled to something.

I feel that Delree is making a perfectly helpful & valid point & one I might make myself to someone else even if we choose not to claim benefits ourselves

But thank you for your contribution anyway:D
