Courier to the USA that covers for loss **Update. Need help**

I need to send an antique painting to the USA. I understand that they won't cover damage and I'm fine with that, but I can't find anyone that covers for loss. Any ideas?
Thanks.
Thanks.

If they will insure you remember to pack to their guidelines and ensure you can prove you have done so:

Some info specific to paintings on this blog http://makingamark.blogspot.co.uk/2011/11/review-of-specialist-art-couriers-in-uk.html
Fed Ex are recommended.
I've not shipped art but usually the better service is from companies who are the same in both countries, so Fed Ex or UPS would be right. DHL also spring to mind but aren't always the most efficient in my experience..0 -
When I had my brilliant business idea a few years back about selling art (it is dirt cheap at auctions) it was the courier that put me off . Everybody I found required glazed items to be in a picture crate and that wasn't really feasible, storage wise for me.
Even the unglazed oils had packing requirements that would have taken me days.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I used the above. It was a complete disaster. UPS arrived before they emailed any paperwork(over 48 hours). After the driver managed to get through by phone he filled out the shipping label etc by hand.
I thought all was fine but the buyer has sent me a message saying that he has been contacted by UPS saying it was sent on freight collect terms and they want $375 COD.
I've already paid this end and I've got no idea what they are playing at. I will ring them in the morning to complain again.0 -

I'm a bit out of my field here, but the amount they are trying to claim from buyer isn't the various import taxes and duty is it?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I assume that freight collect requires carriage to be paid by the recipient. If it was sent as freight that often requires the recipient to pick it up from an airport where there will be fees and charges in addition to import taxes that would be payable in any case. If this hasn't been resolved there may also be storage charges being added on a daily basis - you often have to collect it within a couple of days of arrival to avoid them.
It would be interesting if the OP could let us know the outcome. There have been posts where the carrier and reseller (UPS and clickand sendparcel in this case) have blamed each other.0
