Forgotton National Savings Account Question

23 Posts
Hi
Ive just come across the account book for my natinal savings account that Ive had since I was a kid. The last deposit/withdrawal was about 6 years ago. Does anyone know if the account will still be active or not? I have a vague memory of something in a news a while back about relatively inactive account holders having to come forward to claim the cash in their accounts or risk losing it. Is this the case? If my account is still active, any idea how I go about getting my hands on the money in it as Id much prefer to have it in my cash ISA or something?

Just contact National Savings and ask for the money back.
Alternatively, you could use the National Savings Tracing Service who can also help if you think you might have any other 'forgotten' National Savings products as well.
