ASDA price guarantee question

Would it not make sense when shopping at asda ( in store) to split your shopping when you get to the checkout.
First pay for the stuff that you have bought that is an offer / promotion (4 pints of milk a pound etc) and is likely to be cheaper than other places. Then pay for the rest of the stuff (as long as you have got the minimum number of products for the price guarantee rules ), would this not result in a bigger money back coupon or am i not understanding the way it works.

  • I think it works on being 10% cheaper over all your shopping? I can't see you would gain anything, but I'm sure someone will have worked it out.

By going through the checkout as two separate transactions the stuff on offer (first transaction) would probably be cheaper if the same stuff is not on offer in other stores, but you would have a better chance of getting more money back on the stuff that is not on offer (second transaction) which could be on offer in other stores, or not 10 percent cheaper.

you are correct, some people will purposly check which items are more expensive elsewhere to get the best apg back with the 10% on top.

    Guilty!

That's what I used to do but since they brought in the voucher limit I decided it wasn't worth the effort.

The supermarkets are close enough for me that if another has a decent offer on, such as half price cereals at Sainsbury's, I'll buy those items there, and the stuff that Asda has cheapest at Asda.

wit the 10% offer it makes no odds to split the shopping in Asda
but if they do the £5 off a £40 shop offer then yes split the shopping into £40 a time shops
  • Yes it usually makes it a lot cheaper to play the supermarket with 2 different shops, sometimes more, one A v S and one A v T and one that is just the items you want form Asda that are cheaper, but sometimes the cost of the fillers you need outweigh this as you need at least 8 (most do 10 items to make sure)items for it to compare on APG.

It depends how much time you have to make your shopping list, mysupermarket website helps with that!
