Hi there, am actually looking for only 1 ceramic tile, actually to put under my laptop, to stop it heating so much on my wooden desk.
does anyone know where i might get one from? don't really want to lie and pretend i am looking to retile a kitchen or something

look in the 99p or £1 shops they do a fan that sits under the laptop & is powered via the usb socketI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Places like B&Q sell single tiles as samples.0

If you put a laptop on a ceramic tile you are going to block the air vents and end up with a duff laptop due to overheating,if heat is an issue buy a laptop cooling pad or for a quick and easy solution, put the laptop on a rack, the sort you use to cool cakes on,this will allow any heat to escape0

If your desk is flat and the feet of the laptop raise it slightly off the desk that is all you need - don't worry about it. When you sit it on your lap or sofa and block all the vents - that will cause it to overheat.0

It's no different to putting a laptop on a desk with regards to blocking vents.
Sorry but you're not speaking sense. Laptops are not designed to over heat on a flat surface.0 -
Wickes do single tiles, but in the past I have been given samples at tile merchants. Depends if you are prepared to bluff on that one - they expect they may get the business!0

They might not have been designed to overheat on a flat surface but they can and do overheat on a flat surface, especially if there is a build up of dust in the fans,so in my opinion its you that are not speaking sense.0 -
How about a glass worktop saver designed for a kitchen, that has feet to raise it up slightly off the surface beneath? Or place mats with a cork surface underneath. I would worry that if you put a ceramic tile directly onto a wooden surface, you are likely to scratch the wood, so you would need a bit of felt or something similar underneath anyway.0

You can buy a granite chopping board from Tesco for £10 which should do the job too.0

As many people have said above, you can buy single tiles from most tile shops as samples. Why not buy a laptop cooler pad?"Real knowledge is knowing the extent of one's ignorance."0
