Was wondering how buying farm land works and the repayment timeframes for land purchased.
Do banks still want huge deposits for land?

Can be problematic if there is an agricultural tie which you don't want to adhere to, or the lender doesn't like.

What do you want the land for ... to farm, build a resi property, grazing paddock/equine centre etc ? (NB - there are tax breaks (IHT/CGT and Agricultural Property relief) on farming land subject to conditions and prev/present operational status

If this is for commercial nature, it will be commercial finance reqd as you would expect.

Regional lenders (both for resi or commerical mge) are the key here whom are familiar with the market and business model, you may also wish to have a scout through the NFU website - see what comes up http://www.nfuonline.com/nfudirectory/

A local broker in the community should also have had some exposure to such enqs and should have an idea what he needs from you, and where and whom to start with lender wise.

Unlikely to be a goes unless you have a sound income generation model and know what your'e doing.

If it's just a specualtive hold, forget it, even if you can find a lender the costs of servicing the debt and managing the land (keeping ditches and hedges managed, keeping it well drained, keeping on top of weeds and pests etc etc), will make this a poor investment unless your'e extremely lucky.
