Sudden Condensation on windows

Hi,

I was reading on here about condensation problems, and I thought 'at least we don't get that'.

Well, spoke too soon! We've lived here for 2 years. It's an old semi but
it's insulated and has double glazing. In all that time we have never had condensation except for when the cooker's on, but once turned off it quickly cleared up. The house is never damp.

Well, this morning, I woke up to find all the downstairs windows wet. At first, it was just the tops and bottoms of the windows, but as the day's gone on they've got worse.

I can't see out of the kitchen window at all, as the whole window is covered, and dripping down. The living room windows are wet still at top and bottom.

The glass panels on the front and back door are wet through too. We opened the trickle vents but hasn't done any good. We have the heating on every day, so air not getting too moist. In the living room we have an open vent in the wall as we have the back boiler in there. I also, although cold, left a top window open for a while, but still no help.

Could there be something wrong, or could it be happening because of the constant wet and damp outside this winter?

Thanks,
Candy.

The boiler is serviced every year, and we have an electric CO monitor. I know this can happen if the problem is the gas, but don't think it is, as it's worse in the kitchen than the living room.

  • It has been mild and wet for a while then suddenly dropped cooler today. The air in the house will be humid and condensing on the cold windows. Should be OK if you can open all the windows to ventilate for a day now it is colder.
  • ok i was just worried as you said it was sudden & incomplete combustion from a gas appliance can be a tell tell sign

No, thanks for warning me. It did come into my mind, with it being so sudden. Thankfully it's started to calm down now. I think 'TimBuckTeeth' was right, about the sudden temperature changes, as they have been leaping about in the past few days.

On the day this started my DH said our car windows were really wet inside, early when he went to work. I'm finding out now that it's happening to alot of people this winter.
