Hiya
We have at the moment I think a cermaic cream kitchen sink (1 & 1/2 bowls) which is old and battered. We would like the sink replaced with a stainless steel one and a mixer tap. The pipework underneath is plastic and the one leading to the 1/2 bowl is all loose and manky so I reckon it all needs replacing also. I was wondering if anyone has an idea how much it would cost approx for someone to come out remove old sink and replace?
I have an idea how to remove the sink and even how to swap pipework etc but I DON'T fancy trying it it being harder than I think and screwing it up
I live in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. Also worried about ending up with someone who isnt qualified and who will rip me off so any ideas how to find legit plumber welcome!
Thanks!!
21/1/13 - I am having trouble getting someone who wants to give me a quote on a sink! Lol. I have been on rated people site and one guy came back to me saying it would cost him £160 to fit and he can get me a 'cheap' sink and tap for £90. He had no feedback so was a bit skeptical (sp).
Another guy was all up for it and said he would come check measurements and what we have etc but then isnt responding anymore so I guess he doesnt wanna do it?? Lol. He went to my primary school (not in my year) but I didnt realise til after I contacted him. He quote £90 for labour and plastic pipework underneath and then whatever the cost of the sink and taps I wanted.
Then I spoke to another company who seemed like they were trying to put me off saying need the correct weight sink etc and I was like okay but he didnt wanna come out and quote. Lol.
And then the couple of other places I have tried just dont get back to me.

Who are you going to buy your sink from? If it is a local store or DIY shed, most of them will have fitters/plumbers they work with.
They would normally be happy to recommend someone to you.
I do this all the time for sinks and worktops. Keeps customers and my fitters happy.0 -

It's not just academic of buying a sink. You need to get one that is the same size or slightly larger, otherwise the hole will be bigger than the sink.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

I know that (not silly believe it or not
) which is why I am not too happy about just going out and buying one myself. Lol. Even though I did find one which was correct size but still not confident in buying it without advice (we were just pricing up at the time).

£80 - £100. You buy the sink/waste following consultation on site as to size/shape etc to get.
