Hi.
I have a settled default on my account. Defaulted in 2009 and settled in 2011. Which date does the 6 years start from? I have been told today that it's the settled date.
Seems harsh to be penalised for paying off my debt!! Any way I can argue this with the creditor?
Helppppp!!!!!

It's the date the default was registered.I'm a qualified accountant but please make sure you get expert advice as any opinion is made in a private capacity.

I certainly hope so otherwise it would be 2 steps forward and 10 back. Thought I would ask as when I checked my credit file today I noticed a "settlement date" has been put on the defaulted account.TOTAL OUTSTANDING DEBTS CURRENT BALANCES: Allied International - £3359.61, Blair Oliver & Scott - £1394.65, Lloyds TSB - £211.22, Lloyds TSB - £3125.80, Wescot - £966.25
