Thought Obama was putting up tax for more than just 'the rich' - payroll tax up from 4.5% to 6.5% (very few MSM 'articles' seem to mention this).

Obama has overseen a point where US debt has reached around 100 per cent of GDP.
It is far from impossible that even the USA might not be able to recover from that without a massive upheaval.
I wonder how long it would take Labour to equal that magnificent, Gramscian, achievement here?0 -

No good if the resulting goods are too pricey as exports - take defence for example... I'm genuinely wondering whether Monseiur Hollande will get many of those US orders now.... Can anyone shed light?0 -

Just wondering youse all think to that? as we have a weird new year fiscal political sea change where Obama is pulling the US into the green shoots of recovery, taxing the rich while Osborne is slashing growth here and is accused of doing the opposite in helping millionaires. Does anyone else suspect, as I do, that if Labour wins here - the US will help us trade-wise? After all..... they have copious shale gas....Obama and Cameron not best buddies!
You have some very strange ideas about what is going on in the world. Obama's policies would be rejected by the Tories as making them unelectable as they are so right wing!
Labour has nothing in common with any mainstream politician in the US.0 -

Strictly speaking I think that's a tax cut expiry rather than a tax rise in the weird parlance of US budgetary politics. It amounts to the same thing and I agree that it has happened.0 -

You're living a fantasy. Obama is another product of the NE liberal elite not a frustrated socialist.0
