Obama Right Osborne Wrong?Lab Win Means US Business?

On cutting the deficit Obama said

'We Cant Just Cut Our Way To Prosperity'

Just wondering youse all think to that? as we have a weird new year fiscal political sea change where Obama is pulling the US into the green shoots of recovery, taxing the rich while Osborne is slashing growth here and is accused of doing the opposite in helping millionaires. Does anyone else suspect, as I do, that if Labour wins here - the US will help us trade-wise? After all..... they have copious shale gas....Obama and Cameron not best buddies!

Is it true about Obama and Cameron? I heard Obama and Brown didn't get on and I assumed Obama would keep his distance from Blair/Brown due to Iraq?

Lol - maybe the answer lies in your words 'Blair/Brown' ? Where are they now? Gone. Also Iraq war consigned to the history book as far as cutting our deficits is concerned. (another story.) David Miliband has been wise and prudent to keep the US relationship healthy and productive while we all waited to see what would happen in US election.... now the sun has come out:T ? US voters feel better and more confident citizens spend and grow and trade. I'm also massively curioius whether US will help UK trade more if Ed Milibands labour gets in? We shall monitor!

But I do think voters will be wondering what on earth osborne is playing at, with the Cons doing the opposite and drowning optimism and hope in misery and unproductive austerity.

Some commentators are saying that the US debt is now virtually unmanageable and they have no plans to address it short of possibly going for hyperinflation.

What do we think? Well i think it's certainly true taken in isolation.

However, you can start on your path towards pointing economic policy in the direction of balancing the books by cutting some spending.

On saying that, it seems absolutely no one is remotely interested in balanced books...more so in adding to the debt problem and finding "the right time to cut spending" (which will be when they are out of office).

Yes, Ive heard that too (cant remember where-maybe we can find it ?) Anyway, as usual the twin arguments are out in force - I suppose we should be eternally grateful that for once in their lives the two camps co-operated for the greater good. Be great to see more of this- I wouldnt be surprised to see lots of Obama/Miliband action behind the scenes - they are big export partners for us.Only thing is , British pound is now in trouble on that front.
  • Oh dear - found the exports info - or one of the articles at least :

Not looking good for Osborne at all -

Obama is taxing the rich a hell of a lot less than Osborne...
