1200 Lumens

Am i correct in thinking that a 1200 Lumens cree bike light is the same as a 100 watt bulb?

If so can anyonme recomend this or another bike lightset.
Thanks

Looks awesome, just be very careful with it. When looking at a 100w lightbulb it is dispersing the light all around, these lights give out a focussed "spot" light.

I have a 250 Lumen LED torch, if you look at it directly you will not be able to see properly for a couple of minutes. We've all been dazzled by cars with their headlights on full - if you dazzle a driver with one of these there is a good chance of causing an accident.

As above I bought an 1800 lumen bike light for a friend for Xmas and it is absolutely blinding. I wouldn't dream of using such a thing for my city commute - great for off-road or country cycling, but it would need to be very much pointed at the ground, pointing it forward would blind every person who saw it.

How many cars are going to crash into you due to their drivers being blinded by you using that light on your bike?

Fantastic, for 20 quid and Its so bright its unbelievable and lots of different settings. You can have it a lowish setting for a commute or a high setting for offroad. Perfectly suitable for commuting you just have to select the correct brightness.

I disagree with the above,I've got one use it on the roads and its fine.

    for a true commuter
I would give consideration to a dynamo set up
had I not had my accident. I was going t get a new wheel with dynamo hub built
  • Sorry I cant recommend any bike lights myself but check out road.cc which I use quite often which has a great comparison of bike lights and there different features.

Bit redundant now with LEDs which give 10s or hours on a single battery or charge.
