help with combi boiler

I'm hoping someone can help me with our boiler woes!
We have a Valent turbomax 2821E combi boiler, which is about 10 years old and has been really great so far. Recently though we've started to notice some problems with the heating, which isn't really working.
The radiators are lukewarm at best and the problem seems to be getting worse. It started a few weeks ago and we persuaded ourselves that it was just getting cold and turned up the boiler heating control. Hubbie tried re-balancing the rad valves, but that didn't make any difference.
When the heating first comes on the boiler fires up and works for a minute or so, but then stops.
Today the rads hardly seem to be working at all, although the water side is still fine. At least I can still have a hot shower!
Can anyone give us any suggestions, or should we call out a plumber?

When the heating is on,can you observe that the boiler is actually firing i.e burning gas...??Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
No, I don't think it comes on much. It fires up for a minute or so when the heating comes on (with the timer etc), then goes out. When it's on for that minute you can see the flames through the spy hole thing, but then they go out quite quickly.
It comes on if we draw hot water, so if you run a bath etc you can see the flames for ages, but it doesn't do much on heating only.

You will need to get an RGI out to look at it. Sounds like a ntc or circulation problem.0

Oh dear, that sounds a bit serious and not a good start to the New Year.
I'll see if I can get someone to come out tomorrow. Eeek

I wonder if the diverter valve is returning to its rest position post HW demand..either way it needs specialist TLC. Luckily its not a condensing combi so simpler and hopefully cheaper to fix.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry).
