Dont forget in London. Just because you get 2 lanes on yourside. Your quite likely to get people coming towards you. Because sitting in traffic on their side is above them.
Or if one lane turns left or right. They will do either from either lane.

Would suggest you get public transport. If you are going up for NYE the you both will drinking. Would not be good if he was still drunk the following morning on the motorway!!0
