  • Give us the route you intend to take and the approximate times and we will ensure that WE are somewhere far away.

If he isn't confident on the motorways, I'd hate to see him trying to cope with London traffic.

Motorways are far safer to drive on than other roads if driven on them correctly. It's the idiot drivers that make them dangerous such as middle lane hoggers who reduce a multi million pound 3 lane motorway into a two lane one.

For pity's sake don't let him get onto the M25 it's not earned the title "Road to Hell" for nothing (all 6x2 lanes of it around the M40 junction) it never ceases to give me the squitters and I am familiar with it and the Polish & Czech lorry drivers who keep it at the top of the hits list.

He can't handle the motorway and he gets tired easily? Forget the driving, your friend is a wuss of the highest order. Find a more manly comrade before you are forever tainted by his wimpiness.

Everyone has to learn, but you don't have to be there when they do it. Reminds me of a college pal who bought a second-hand car (he had recently passed his test) to drive home (way up north). All went well on the 200+ mile journey, which unfortunately ended upside down against a, "caithness hedge" not 5 miles away from his folks house.

My first trip on the motorway was for work purposes. Didn't tell them it was my first time and luckily had no slip road to contend with as it was a dual carriage way turning into a motorway. I found it the easiest driving I've done, then again I was in a rental car, a powerful one at that!

If you don't feel safe dont get in. and tell your friend he needs some practice and tell him to keep going for regular breaks if he tires easily. I've been tired driving on the motorway when it was dark and know how it is. Give him tips like making sure the car gets some air, and dont be too warm.
  • You really have to have your wits about you on the motorway. I have been driving for many years and have an HGV licence also so know what to look out for.

Then you get idiots like the one today.

    See this.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYWzEheNE_Q

Watch about the 1 minute mark. Nothing dramatic but the number plate tickled me. BMW with the plate WN58 KKR

The actual file is much better quality than that but youtube seems to have killed it.
Need to play with dimensions and file sizes.

You aren't much better of a driver yourself - judging by how close you stayed on his tail.

If for any reason he stopped, you would have absolutely smashed into him. Not to mention the rainy wet road.

And the undertake on the bent towards the end of the clip!
