Hi all,
I've just stumbled upon a brilliant website that enables you to bypass the annoying interactive voice response (IVR) systems that many companies use.
http://www.ivrhacks.com/
Here's the blurb from their site:
"Are you sick of those annoying interactive voice response (IVR) systems that many companies use? "Press 1 for Customer Service, Press 2 for Sales," as you navigate an increasingly frustrating maze of options in an effort to reach a human being who can answer your question or process your sale. ivrhacks.com is a directory of shortcuts to IVR systems for companies around the world. These shortcuts allow you to exit this maze as quickly and as effortlessly as possible, taking you to a human operator who can respond to your call in the old fashioned way; using their own voice and interacting with you through conversation."
If you know any other ways to bypass these systems please help them expand their listings. :rotfl::T :rotfl:
regards, McCartrey

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

I still prefer http://www.ivrhacks.com/ as it is not a static list like http://www.gethuman.com/uk/. You can add your own entries and you can filter it by UK numbers. I think it has more potential to be useful longer term for UK users.
p.s. Heinz, I've just found your Orchid Heinz list. It's very useful. Thanks!0
