eBay - End Auction Early - put something wrong in description

Hi All - is there anyway to end an auction with only 11 hours left?

I realised I described something wrong so would rather start the auction again.
I've added a note to say what was wrong and also emailed the current top bidder - however i am worried whoever wins this might use it as an excuse to leave me negative feedback, its only a cheap item so dont want to ruin my feedback because of it.

I tried the usual end auction early but because of the <12 hours left it wont let me.

Happened to me, but i cancelled highest bidder (and blocked them), and thankfully no-one else bid.

Don't even think it would let me raise the price - so no-one would buy it.

Have you got a friend who could bid and win? Shill bidding i suppose - but not for gain.

If you have added a note though - thats usually fine - as long as you have made high bidder aware. Mine wouldn't let me add a note. I suppose high bidder could be away from the PC though - until after the auction.
  • there have been more bids since i added the note - so hopefully they have read the note.

Yeah it wouldnt let me change anything - other than add a note.
  • if you've added a note than i think that gets sent on to any bidder so they shld be aware of yr extra info. ?
  • I'd leave it and then contact the buyer to make sure they saw the note before bidding and are they still happy to go through with the sale if not offer to cancel it.

When this happened to me i added a note and contacted the highest bidder. She seemed happy with the situation and all was well.
  • thanks for the all the answers.

I think the 12 hour thing has always been there (dont cancel with 12 hours to go) but i'm sure you still actually could. Seems no more.

    Thanks again for the replies

I was able to cancel something recently with less than 12 hours left and frankly I would really really try. Any additional info added as an extra after the first bid is not binding and many people may have either put in a snipe bid or even have it on their watch list and never see the additional text. It is NOT brought to the attention of buyers via email either.

  • Hi Soolin - do you know how you did it. I have done it before (probably last year some time)

This is the error i get when trying to cancel all bids:

Your listing can't end early if there are bids on the item, the reserve price has been met, or the listing ends in 12 hours or less.

I have no idea, but it let me cancel all the bids and then end the item.

I do think there are different versions of eBay sometimes as I have in the past not been able to do something that others have said was possible.

I think i have just remebered doing it myself-ebay allow you to cancel a listing if it has no bids on it within the 12hr window.
So you must cancel all bidders first until you get down to no bids whatsoever, then go through with the cancel listing.
