Problem with broad beans
They're flowering, and we've noticed there are lots of ants and what I think are blackfly. We've sprayed them with water and washing-up liquid, but they're still there. Someone recommended pinching out the tops of the plants as this is where the blackfly congregate.
Is there anything we can do? We garden organically so chemicals are out. Is this crop going to be a disaster?

I have heard that planting garlic under plants can often deter blackfly never tried it myself but it might be worth a try and it's definitely organic!0

Thanks for that tip - it was also suggested that we boil garlic in water and use that to water the plants.Nelly's other Mr. Hyde0
