what type of conifer for my garden
i've a huge garden and a couple of years ago had a massive pine tree taken out because it was a monster / damaged and was ripping down our boundary wall. at the same time my holly bush came out. since then it has been difficult to plant anything in this area as the soil is now so acidic.
i need to replace the tree with something that offers us privacy in the garden and i'm not really into conifers. However at the garden centre today (i have been round loads) saw a conifer which had a fern like appearance (and light green). which will grow between 6-8 foot (perfect). they couldnt give me a price today for 5ft ones to plant (my OH wants instant privacy) however he will ring me on tues for price of 10 x 5 ft plants with spacing at 2ft.
so my questions are
1. does anyone have a vague idea of what type of conifer this is
2. is there anywhere on line that i can check the price against
and before anyone states...yes i know they will need to be maintained which is not a problem.

DIfficult to know what these might be. But I'd say find out for sure coz you definatly don't want to make a mistake. Get the proper latin name and the variety and research it to find out how big it's going to get, and don't rely on the garden centre staff as in my experience they often don't have a clue but will talk a good game to make a sale.Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0
